Hostel Visits & Street Ministry
We visit Stockton and Middlesborough hostels on a weekly basis to not only feed and clothe this community but to also spread the love of Jesus and share the gospel.
This is a life-giving service that covers the homeless in Northallerton, Stockton and Middlesborough.
With the rising costs of living, rental increases, job losses and family breakdowns more and more are ending up homeless and facing life on the streets. The housing crisis in the UK has reached a peak with current council house waiting lists exceeding 18 months for emergency accommodation.
Women are being forced onto the streets and children have ended up in care. This is a dreadful situation to witness and not something a western, affluent country should be having to tackle on the scale that we are.
The sad fact is that we don't know if the people we visit in the hostels will survive until our next visit, the streets are a dangerous place with high crime rates and non- existent living conditions. Freezing temperatures cause death and we have unfortunately lost several to the weather.
We work alongside several other agencies to support the homeless. Currently in Northallerton where we are working with the rough sleeper navigator from the council 12 out of 15 cases are being supported by us.
We feed and minister to 50 per week at the hostels
